The Beautiful View Iris Garden is an extensive iris hobby garden evolving into a small commercial iris garden. The garden features 1100 tall bearded and more than 400 medians, PCIs, Siberians, and arilbred irises. A limited number of spuria and Louisiana irises are available for the visitors' viewing pleasure.

Irises are great garden plants for the beginning gardener to the most advanced gardener. The Beautiful View Iris Garden concentrates on potted iris for the garden visitor and customer specified collections for both the Internet purchaser and the garden visitor. The customer specified collections are named cultivars and are an economical way for the beginning gardener to start or for anyone to expand an existing collection. A limited number of rhizomes of each cultivar are also available for sale by name.

Orders are accepted at the garden (open weekends April and May), by telephone, fax, e-mail or US mail. Visa and Master Card credit cards are accepted for your convenience. If emailing order, do not include credit card information yet. A way to use a secure server is being explored. When calling, be prepared to leave a message with a time after dark when you can be called or wait until after dark Pacific time to call.

Bloom time depends on the weather. The Garden Status page has the current conditions. Peak bloom has varied as much as four weeks in the past three years. The following information is based on "normal" years. First bloom normally occurs in early March with standard dwarf bearded and the smaller arils. Early bloom starts about the first of April and includes the taller medians and arils, Pacific Coast Iris and early tall bearded. Peak bloom is the last week of April and is the time when the most tall bearded are in bloom and the Siberians are getting started. Late season continues into late May or early June with late TBs, Siberians, spurias and Louisianas. The rebloomers start blooming again in June and continue to the first killing frost, if there is one.

Digging, dividing, shipping and replanting start about July 4th and continue to November. Shipping time depends on the customers' climate and preference. PCI collections for garden pickup are available in November after new root growth starts. Instruction in digging, dividing and planting is available based on interest.

Mud gear is not required even during light to medium rains. Good walking shoes are strongly recommended at all times as the irises are in a garden setting. The irises are in two main areas; the top of the hill and the north side of the hill. The top of the hill is wheel chair accessible. The display planting for many of the potted iris are in the Hilltop beds. Most of the newer introductions are also in the Hilltop beds and the photo albums are available at the hill top area. Cars with wheel chairs or walkers can park right next to the Hilltop iris beds.
